The campaign submitted a memorandum to members of the 118th Congress urging policymakers to address one of the most critical issues facing people today: the lack of decent, stable, affordable rental housing. The memorandum outlines the housing crisis facing those with the lowest incomes while also sharing research on the multi-sector impacts of the lack of affordable housing and overviewing the growing number of multi-sector partners supporting robust housing solutions. The memorandum urges members of Congress to support the OSAH campaign’s long-term housing solutions and highlights legislative opportunities to support affordable housing, as well as legislative threats to housing and homelessness programs.
“Research consistently shows that a lack of decent, stable, affordable housing causes and exacerbates negative outcomes in education, healthcare, food security, economic mobility, homelessness, civil rights, criminal justice, child welfare, climate, and more,” explains the memorandum. “With your leadership, we can help end the rental housing crisis by bringing proven solutions to scale.”
