On June 14, the campaign sent a letter to congressional leadership urging them to 1) expand rental assistance to every eligible household, 2) invest $70 billion to preserve public housing. and 3) provide $40 billion to build new homes through the national Housing Trust Fund. The letter was signed by 43 leading organizations from an array of sectors, including health, education, food security, civil rights, faith, homelessness, seniors, child well-being, environmental protection, municipal governance, gender equity, animal protection, and more.
These vital housing programs most directly and effectively serve the lowest income renters with the greatest needs. All three will be essential to build on the temporary housing relief measures in the American Rescue Plan and support an equitable recovery.
